Great article in the Washington Post! The value of the arts runs deep and goes beyond the intrinsic value. Click on the link below to read more. "Top 10 skills children learn from the arts" Successful field trip to The Art Institute of Chicago today! The Studio Art students visited the museum today as part of a unit on historical influences in art. The task was to view the collection and select a piece of art for inspiration. The students explored the museum collection with no predetermined artwork selected. For two hours students made their way through the museum as artists in search of inspiration. Some of them moved slowly through the various painting galleries taking their time to thoroughly experience one art piece at a time. Others moved quickly through the American Art, the Galleries of Greek, Roman, and Byzantine Art, into the out of the way Textiles Gallery, and then all the way to the third floor of the Modern wing! As always the Miniature Gallery was popular too!
The next steps include researching the art pieces selected, brainstorming ideas, setting goals, and creating art pieces inspired by history. |
